Is it technically possible for us to offer up Mass and other prayers for the intention of easing our own later sufferings in purgatory?

And if so, is it selfish to do so when we could be just as easily praying for others in purgatory?

I've wondered about this for some time. Thanks!

Carol,

Isn't this the same intention we have when we gain a plenary or partial indulgence for ourselves? Sounds okay to me!
